Audience: The audience are employees of a talent development company called Peak Leadership who have experience with project development but are new to working in a remote or hybrid model. Ages range from 25-50. Hybrid workers live in Colorado, while remote workers live all over the country. Learners all have at least a bachelor’s degree in a variety of subject matters. All have some prior knowledge using the online tools from the company.
Business Problem: After a survey was given to all employees of Peak Leadership, employees reported they are struggling to maintain a work/life balance when they are “always connected” and have the ability to work anywhere at any time. This is causing a number of issues which are affecting their ability to stay productive. Employees reported they are facing an urgent challenge of maintaining a healthy work/life balance due to constant connectivity and remote work flexibility. This issue is resulting in a significant decrease in productivity which hampers their ability to perform effectively during work hours. This is reflected in a 20% decrease in average daily output compared to pre-remote work levels.
Solution: This training aims to enhance productivity by optimizing the utilization of tools such as calendars, messaging apps, and video meetings, aiming to increase their effective usage from the current self-reported 75% to a targeted 85%. It will guide learners on how to create a weekly schedule using balancing strategies, develop a blocked online calendar and choose the appropriate virtual tool for the task (e.g., email versus meeting) to maximize work hours.
Highlights: This course includes triggers, interactions, knowledge checks, a final assessment, voice over narration, and a continuous scenario based example.
Process: In developing this eLearning course for Peak Leadership (fictional), a meticulous approach was employed. This would have started with a needs analysis with SMEs to identify deficiencies and determine learning goals as well as the appropriate modality for this training. In the design phase, a comprehensive design document and storyboard were crafted to outline the structure and interactive elements of the eLearning program. The course came to life during the development phase, with interactive simulations implemented using Articulate Storyline. Upon completion of the development phase, this course for Peak Leadership (fictional) would be published and implemented in adherence to any compliance framework specific to the company’s requirements. After the training is implemented, I would evaluate the results of the training using:
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 of evaluation: There will be a scenario-based assessment at the end with 5 questions requiring a minimum score of 80% to pass. Each question will map to a terminal learning objective to ensure they are achieved. The learner can retake the full quiz as many times as necessary to pass. Two, ungraded knowledge checks will also be included. The learner will have 2 attempts before the correct answer is reiterated.
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 of evaluation: Employees will complete a survey 3 months after the training to determine if they feel confident that they are meeting the company’s expectations for remote work. Supervisors will be interviewed 3 months after all employees have completed the training to compare prior performance to post-training performance.

Audience: Nutrition Center Keepers who are paid employees at the Animal Sanctuary who work in the Animal Care, Carnivore Nutrition Center. Employees' ages range is from 18-40. The Sanctuary is based in Colorado, but employees come from all over the United States. Some employees have a college degree in zoology or a related field, but some only have first hand knowledge from working at the sanctuary.
Business Problem: The lack of basic proper training for new staff members is contributing to food waste. Newly hired employees do not know the appropriate steps to take and don’t feel comfortable with the equipment. Because of this, the more knowledgeable staff are having to constantly correct mistakes made by new staff which consequently leads to wasted food.
Solution: Reduce food waste from 8% to 3% by minimizing errors. Success would look like all paid employees feeling comfortable and confident knowing the procedures for a bleach bath, knowing the dietary needs of the animals, and running the meat grinder safely and proficiently by using a procedural based eLearning training that walks the new employee through the steps of each task they will need to perform from the time they step onto the floor, until they are ready to deliver the finished product.
Highlights: This course includes interactive blocks, visuals, knowledge checks, and a scenario-based assessment at the end.
Process: In developing this eLearning course for the Animal Sanctuary (fictional name) a systematic approach was adopted. This started with a needs analysis working with a SME to identify deficiencies and determine learning goals as well as the appropriate modality for this training. The design phase included crafting a design document which specified the course structure, incorporating a scenario-based assessment, and real-life examples for practical knowledge. During the development phase, these elements were crafted as engaging interactions to create a memorable experience for the learner. Upon completion of the development phase, this course for the Carnivore Nutrition Center would be published and implemented in adherence to any compliance framework specific to the company’s requirements. Two, ungraded knowledge checks will also be included.
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 of evaluation: Data will be collected on a daily basis gauging the amount of food waste. In three months, the data will be processed to evaluate if the amount of food waste is being reduced.
